While we are still a young association, we’re hoping to develop member benefits including a resource library, member discounts, and a member directory. As we’re building our member benefits, organization in the Northwest Territories are invited to join NWTAN for free.

As a member-based organization, NWTAN aims to serve non-profits across subsectors. We invite all types of non-profits to join us.
Who can join?
According to our bylaws, membership is open to organizations that are registered as a non-profit society or charity, as well as self-governed, unincorporated organizations who are affiliated with a registered organization.
To be eligible to join, organizations must:
be governed by an independent board of directors or other governing body;
be registered in the Northwest Territories or have at least one core personnel in the Northwest Territories;
operate as a non-profit entity; and
be accepted as a member according to NWTAN bylaws.
A core personnel refers to a person who is responsible for overseeing or executing a significant portion of work of the organization. This person can be paid staff, a contractor, or a volunteer.

member advisory circle
Our Member Advisory Circle (MAC) is an advisory group that oversees the work of our Board. The purpose of the MAC is to provide feedback, share trends and realities facing the non-profit sector in the NWT, and ensure that the Board is being responsive to the needs and priorities of our members.
The MAC is elected during our general meetings every three years. It is composed of up to eight individuals including:
Two individuals representing members that are volunteer organizations without any paid staff or contractors;
Two individuals representing members that are small organizations with one to two staff or contractors;
Two individuals representing members that are mid-size organizations with between three and five staff;
Two individuals representing members that are large organizations with over five staff.
