Building a resilient & Impactful non-profit sector in the nwt
The Northwest Territories’ Association of Non-profits (NWTAN) strengthens and champions the territory’s non-profit sector. We connect and support non-profits in the NWT and work to ensure the sector is recognized for its vital contributions to community health, safety, well-being, belonging, and economic stability.

Our mission is to advocate for and strengthen the Northwest territories’ non-profit sector by fostering equity, solidarity, and community service throughout the territory.
our work
There have been years of sector-building and coalition-building efforts over the past many years by many people and organizations throughout the territory. Informed and inspired by this work, NWTAN was established in 2026 as a member-driven association.
We strengthen the sector by:
Advocating for policy, funding, and legislative changes that strengthen the entire non-profit sector.
Promoting the visibility, value, and recognition of non-profits in the territory.
Creating spaces for connecting, learning, relationship-building, and coalition-building.
Collecting and sharing data to support strategic decision making, advocacy, and planning.
We’re working toward a resilient and impactful non-profit sector that shapes equitable policy, strengthens communities, and drives lasting change across the NWT.
